Pappy’s Ice Cream Bike

Spring is finally here, and with the change to warmer weather comes all sorts of outdoor activities and events–as well as one of our favorite pieces of Dining & Catering equipment, the Pappy’s Ice Cream Bike! The Ice Cream Bike is a bicycle with a refrigerated compartment on the front for storing and serving hand-dipped and novelty ice cream.

This week, we took the Ice Cream bike out for Munchie Mondays, a weekly Dining & Catering promotion. We set up the bike in the Union and gave out samples of strawberry and cookies ‘n cream ice cream in tiny cones.

Occasionally Pappy’s employees will take the bike out too, either to sell ice cream on campus or pass out free mini cones, like they will be next Friday, April 22, from 2 to 4 pm outside Class of ’50. The bike is also available for rental at all kinds of events, from small parties to conferences to much bigger events, and different packages include a range of ice cream options. For more specific information about renting the bike, contact Shannen Jordan at sdjordan@purdue.edu or (765) 494-8938.

Pappy’s will be closing at the end of the year for renovations. While the main location will be shut down between May 9 and June 19, the Ice Cream Bike will still be available for rental! Pappy’s is also looking for more attendants for the bike, so if you want to apply, you can do it here: https://www.purdue.edu/studentemployment/ApplicationProcess/Application?PositionId=4284d033-81a0-41d2-a7ec-900cb79741bc

Although this week’s Munchie Monday was spent passing out free mini cones, we pass out free samples of all sorts of things from various locations around campus, like Bistro and Catalyst. To find out where we are each week, you can follow Purdue Dining & Catering on our different social media platforms, @Purduedining on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Even if the year is almost over, Munchie Mondays will start back up next semester, so follow us to make sure you don’t miss free food!

Have you seen us out on Munchie Mondays? Did you get a mini cone? Tell us about it!

See you next week!
