Boilers of Dining – Andrea Reynolds

This week on Boilers of Dining we’re talking to Andrea Reynolds! She’s the Assistant Dining Court Manager for Earhart Dining Court and from Portage, Indiana.

So Andrea, what does an Assistant Dining Court Manager do?

Well, I’m in charge of major orders, food purchasing. I forcast menus with the chef and take care of overall operational needs. I also train supervisors. It’s a little bit of everything, really.

Have you been in this position long?

Not long! I’ve only been here since September. Before that I worked in the Athletic Dining Room, right after graduating from Purdue. I started with PD&C in 2011 as a student employee at Ford Dining Court!

Okay, ready for some fun ones?

Where is your favorite place to shop?

My favorite place? Definitely TJ Maxx!

What is your go to snack?

Well, I love potato chips. Oh, movie theater popcorn! That’s my favorite food ever.

What is your favorite milkshake flavor?

Cookies and cream! Or any kind of cookie really!

Can you describe the work culture you work best in?

When you’re appreciated for the work you’re doing, that’s always really motivating. It makes me want to try new things and keep learning. It’s also important to always have someone you can always go to for help.

What is your favorite memory as a staff member?

I loved being at the Athletic Dining Room during pre-season when the football players come in early during summer. I worked really long hours, around 5am to 7pm, but it was so much fun! I had great experience with the interns there and no matter how tired we were, we had such a great time!

Is there anything you want the Purdue community to know?

Everyone in Dining works extremely hard trying to put out the best food and experience possible and we couldn’t do it without everyone. Even when we’re short on staff, the team work atmosphere really shows.

Thanks so much for talking to us, Andrea! Happy Friday, Boilers!
