Sarah Sellgren – Boilers of Dining

From Washington State to Indiana, Sarah Sellgren has traveled a long way to come help us at Purdue University as the Administrative Clerk at Earhart Dining Court!

To get us started, can you tell us where you went to school?

I am actually attending Purdue Global right now! I got a scholarship due to working full time at Purdue and I will be graduating this upcoming November with a degree in Business Administration.

Congratulations! With that, can you tell us what you do for Earhart?

I help order supplies such as uniforms and cooking tools. I am also in charge of the money that comes in and out of the dining court.

What made you decide to work at Earhart?

It’s sort of a long story. I’ve been working in PD&C for almost 10 years and I had started at Wiley. I worked my way up to Cook and then their Clerk. I then transferred here to Earhart and even though I hold the same position I do different things. I moved over here for a change and to work with different people.

You said you’ve working in Purdue Dining for 10 years, how many of those 10 years have been at Earhart?

This July would make it 2 years since I’ve come to Earhart.

I bet everyone is glad to have you here! On a different note, even though Earhart serves different food everyday, what is your favorite food to get?

The Burger Bar because I love getting the Malibu Burger. I’ve started cutting out animal products from my meals so the Malibu Burger is a great choice since it’s vegan and tastes great!

Sounds good! Outside of Earhart, where do you eat?

Bru Burger! They have a great vegan burger as well.

If you could eat dinner with anyone in the world, who would it be and where would you go?

Defiantly my daughter and I’d take her to the Space Needle in Seattle. I grew up there and I want her to see the beautiful views I’ve seen.

That’s so sweet, please invite us to! Outside of work, what do you like to do as a hobby?

I really enjoy going to concerts and local shows, go support your local music scene!

Who is your favorite band to go see?

My favorite band named NOFX. No one really knows of them but I like their music and other musicians as well.

You’ve talked about wanting to go to Seattle, is that your favorite place you’ve traveled to?

It defiantly is one of the top ones but I’d say my parents fishing cabin in Vermont off Lake Champlain is probably my favorite. You look across the lake and see Canada, which is also beautiful.

Have you ever taken a trip to Canada then?

Not previously but I am supposed to go this summer with my daughter!

What are some other places you want to travel to?

I have always wanted to go to Sweden or Norway. My ancestors are from there and I really want to see how they operate differently from the U.S. from their healthcare system, free college education, and more. The scenery is beautiful too so I’d love to see it in person.

Sounds like you have some fun vacations ahead of you to plan so we’ll get out of your way with a final question, what do you find motivates you?

Helping others complete their tasks. I mean it’s my job but I really do enjoy jumping in to help where I can. I don’t mean to compliment myself but several people here at Earhart call me a Jack of All Trades!

We’ll keep that in mind the next time we need help. Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us and we hope you obtain your degree without a hitch and have a great trip this summer with your daughter!

Happy February Boilermakers! We hope you enjoyed our interview with Sarah and stay tuned for a Valentines Day themed article coming your way sometime soon 😉
