This week’s featured Boiler is Jacob Rivers, a Student Manager at Harrison Grille! Some of his responsibilities as Student Manager include overseeing the Student Supervisors, making schedules, managing a team of students, training, and coordinating with full-time staff. Jacob is a senior planning to graduate this coming May with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science. He has worked with Purdue Dining & Catering all four years of college. Jacob is from Mishawaka, Indiana just minutes away from the Michigan border and Lake Michigan! He recently accepted the job offer as a Study Technician at Covance: Contract Research Organization, his dream company.
Why did you decide to work for PD&C?
“Mostly for convenience- I lived in Harrison my freshman year.”
What opportunities has PD&C given you?
“PD&C has given me the ability to grow and gain new skills I can use in my future career. I’ve also learned adaptability, teamwork, and perseverance.”
What song gets stuck in your head the most?
“‘Whatever it Takes’ by Imagine Dragons.”
What is your go-to snack?
“Ice cream with chocolate and caramel syrup.”
What famous person do you wish would walk into Harrison Grille?
“Madea!”
What is something that most do not know about you?
“I competed in baby contests when I was a baby. I won a lot of them and I remember having trophies nearly 6 ft tall.”
